On Friday evening, the four of us had planned to have a pre-Christmas dinner, and so off we went to the beautiful double frontage China House café on Beach Street which occupies three heritage shophouses and is owned by an Aussie couple. It was a very nice place to chill out, with colourful themed rooms, lovely open-air courtyards, and a very relaxing atmosphere. Though food prices were slightly on the high side, I found their cakes to be delicious, even better than the main courses! If you’re a shutterbug like me, then you’ll definitely fall in love with this cosy place. Every corner of this café just seemed so photogenic to my amateur eyes! :)

Despite having lived in Penang for almost 4 and a half years now, I’ve never got bored of wandering around George Town, the proud capital of the state which offers endless opportunities for photography enthusiasts.  From the five foot ways of pre-war shophouses, the myriads of colours and sounds at Little India, the choking incense at hundred-year-old Chinese temples, to the grandiose colonial buildings at the Esplanade, every angle and perspective of this small yet compact city is fascinating to the eyes of a shutterbug.

What’s best about this place is that, at the end of the day, you would always find yourself lugging your exhausted legs to one of the many eateries that dot the city, whether it’s the swanky cafés at the latest mall in town or just follow the crowd to their favourite hawker haunts. In George Town, it’s always food o’clock. You’ll never go hungry here.
