Red is sexy
I’m back from the English Dhamma Camp! I enjoyed myself thoroughly there, and most importantly, I learned a lot. Or should I say, it was a life-transforming experience for me even though I was only there for a week. No exaggeration here. Well, I’ll save that for another entry as it’s time to introduce to you guys my latest baby…

A Dell! What’s inside?

My spanking new Studio XPS 16, that is! :D

In the luscious sheen of Merlot Red! Sexy, no?

Came loaded with the latest Windows 7 and Intel Core i7 quad-core processor

Keyboard in timeless black! Love it…

In its full glory… By the way, did you notice that the keyboard was illuminated?
Some of you might be wondering… What happened to my old laptop? Sad to say, a series of unfortunate events had befallen it within the past few months. One of the hinges finally gave way due to excessive abuse by me, I guess. Next, the hard disk drive died on me which resulted in me giving my lappie a new heart transplant. And finally, the LCD screen ceased to operate too! *sob* I was told the screen repair could easily set me back around RM700. After some discussion with mum, we both agreed that it was not worth it. And I think y’all know what happened next by now. :)
To be frank, I was kinda sad as I thought my good ol’ NEC was gonna last me for another few years. But alas, it decided to meet its expiration date right after it turned 2! :(

Peeps! I’m leaving for Kuala Lumpur this afternoon by air as I’m going on an 8D7N backpacking trip with my friends to an exotic destination nestled somewhere in Southeast Asia (guess!). Yes, I know it’ll be another week-long absence from home for me and you can imagine how busy (and thrilled) I am right now. This is gonna be my 1st vacation overseas in more than a decade and I just can’t hide the excitement in me! :D For your information, the last and only foreign destination I’ve been to was the southern Thai city of Hat Yai when I was still in primary school. That was like ages ago… Gosh!

Passport? Check. Local currency? Check. Lincoln bills? Check.
Hope everything sails smoothly for all of us. And oh… Here’s a map of Southeast Asia for your reference, just in case! ;)

Oh where, oh where in the world Southeast Asia could I possibly be going?
Gotta go pack my stuff now. Happy guessing!

Pasta, matcha, ooh la la
As some of you have already known, I finally bade my finals goodbye on last Saturday. In addition to the core and elective subjects, I also sat for the DELE (Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera ~ Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language) examination, which is the official accreditation of Spanish language proficiency, issued and recognized by Spain’s Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport. Since my university is 1 of the 3 DELE exam venues in Malaysia, I of course seize the opportunity to participate albeit the RM197 registration fee. I gotta have that diploma, even though I was just taking level A1, the 1st of 6 levels available.
Even before the DELE exam (the last paper) took place, I was literally in a post-exam mood. So on the day I finished my 2nd paper (also the penultimate subject), I got a few friends with me and off we went to Bravo Italiana for a meal that I’d been craving for so many moons. In case you don’t already know, I’m such a sucker for Italian cuisine, especially ones that come with lotsa mozzarella and parmesan!

Bruschetta as appetizer

My plate of Penne Primavera. Tasted average.

My friend, Pafei’s don’t-know-what-it-was-called. Looks so creamy and cheesilicious!

Sendy’s Spaghetti al Capitano was laden with scallops, mussels, shrimps, squids, and diced salmon!

2 friends ordered a set dinner each, shown here is the juicy and tender lamb shank

Italian themes all over the wall!
I read from various Penang food blogs that their Strawberry Panna Cotta was great, and so I wanted to order one. Alas, they ran out of it that particular evening which left me kinda disappointed. Next time, perhaps?

On Monday, my parents came to fetch me home. After having stuffed the boot and backseat full with my luggage, I suggested that we had lunch at Queensbay Mall’s Azuma Japanese Restaurant, since none of us had stepped into the premise before. Come to think of it, it had been months since I last had a meal with them. Family moment… Seize it before you lose it!

Don’t you just love those porcelain wares?

Cheese Temaki, quite delicious especially after being dipped in soy sauce and wasabi

Dad’s Tori Niku Shiru Yaki set meal

Lovely Shiitake Butter

Yasai Iri Yudofu, the broth’s light taste reminded me of the Chinese cabbage soup

Yasai Tempura with a slice of lemon as decoration

Here with a bowl of rice!

Complimentary matcha (green tea) ice cream for dessert

The shop front
Whoa… I’ve never blogged such a long entry on food before. So there… Feast your senses! Meanwhile, I’ll be away for the week-long English Dhamma Camp at a Buddhist temple in Air Itam, Penang. See… I’m getting so religious all of a sudden! Haha…
Oh by the way, November 8th this year marked my 3rd anniversary as a vegetarian. Life’s great when you go veg! :D
