A day at aunt’s
My aunt (mum’s youngest sis) loves organizing family gatherings at her place and on Monday, we were invited to a day of chit-chats and good food. When I say good food, it means…

… asam laksa! Or to be precise, an asam-lemak combo. Yes, it was the vegetarian version, and my all-time favourite. A must-have every time I come home since I’m deprived of this delicious dish at my university.

Are you salivating yet? I know I am! A dash of nicely-chopped bird’s eye chillies and lime juice would make this hot and sour dish even more irresistible. Yum…

Any asam/lemak laksa lovers here? Raise your hand (as though I can see it, LOL)!

Saw this stream of light at the dry kitchen, and thought it’d make a good photo opp. I wasted no time and immediately got this setup ready for my camera.

My aunt loves her garden. Very much. She’s given it a total makeover for like 3 times within a short 5 years or so, with each refurbishment costing up to tens of thousands. Here’s a shot of some of her garden’s plethora of flowers.

Details of the feature wall where water cascades down into the fish pond

Kids havin’ fun in the pond before it’s turned into a permanent abode for the fish. The one in focus is my nephew while my aunt’s son is the one on the left.
I realize that my blog is gearing towards the path of a travelogue with all the travel tales and pictures. Guess I’d have to write more on my thoughts and personal stuff because that’s what I’ve intended it to be in the first place. Yet I think my latest blog entries quite make up for this, ya? Oh well…

I mentioned in this entry that my lappie’s graphics card was the culprit behind all my latest digital nightmares. Apparently not so, as I soon found out that it was something else. My hard disk drive recently died on me which led me to have a new HDD transplant. And that translated to an instant RM200 giveaway. I wasn’t quite bothered by that, as all I wanted was a peace of mind. There were numerous automatic shutdowns of my Windows before that which really pissed me off, especially when I was in the midst of having my assignments done. Thankfully, all things returned to normal after I had a fresh copy of Windows installed on my new hard drive. As opposed to last time, I’ve yet to encounter a single glitch thus far after the installation of the graphics card’s drivers. *touch wood*

I scored the highest among my peers in the Spanish – Level II mid-term test! I didn’t expect myself to hit an almost perfect score ~ 14/15 for the listening test and 99/100 for the written part considering the fact that I only spent less than 2 hours on my revision. Guess my lucky star was with me all this while…

A recent assignment required us to pick a construction site of our choice, conduct site visits, and followed by an individual report of our findings during the visits. My team of 4 has chosen 1st Avenue Penang, the upcoming 11-storey upmarket shopping mall located just next to Prangin Mall. The mall is scheduled for completion by February 15th next year, and it’s actually the Phase 3 of the whole KOMTAR development project.
Here are some sneak peeks…

Interiors… Still a lot more to be done

The mall’s atrium

The basement, soon to be filled with retail outlets

View of the KOMTAR Tower and the Dewan Tunku geodesic dome from the mall

The uppermost floor, which will accommodate a cineplex and an amusement centre

I’m not sure what this structure is for…

On Thursday evening, my friends and I decided to have a barbecue on a secluded beach not far away from Queensbay Mall, Penang. Although the sky looked rather gloomy and melancholic with low-lying cumulonimbus clouds in the distance, we were steadfast on our plan. So we bought the food stuff from Tesco and also brought along skewers and charcoals to our destination.

Bayan Mutiara Beach with Jerejak Island in view

The mighty Penang Bridge in the distance
By the way, don’t expect the beach to be in a pristine state. It was nowhere near the ones in Batu Feringghi and the East Coast. The stretch of sand was filled with rocks, stones, dried leaves, and the occasional wraps and plastic bags. Since we weren’t there to sunbathe, we couldn’t care less.
Now let’s see what we had for our BBQ…

Chicken frankfurters, squid balls, chicken wing. Not mine.

Almost there…

Über delicious hash browns! Now these were mine. :P

Just love the intense colour of the sweet corn. This was mine too.

Love this shot! :)
Before we managed to finish grilling all our food, a torrential downpour decided to greet us on the spot. Dammit! We were then forced to pack our stuff and cut short our BBQ session. Grrr…
So guys, when are we gonna have another one? I can’t wait!
